Apex exporters body FIEO on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over high US tariffs on Indian goods and said that textiles and apparel manufacturers in Tirupur, Noida, and Surat have halted production amid worsening cost competitiveness due to these steep duties. The US duties on Indian goods will increase to 50 per cent from August 27.

An Indian-American youth, who returned to New Delhi last month to pursue studies, was on Monday found murdered at his rented house in north-west Delhi. Kannan Mehra (21), who was pursuing philosophy course in Delhi University, was found with stab wounds on his neck at his residence in Hudson Lane in Mukherjee Nagar by his landlord, a senior police official said.
